Be Silent

Do you hear it?

It’s the sound of silence

Lonely streets we’ve walked alone

Desperately hoping for a friend

Searching for a confidant

Only to come up short

To walk the broken trail

To see only blackness

To hear nothingness

Loneliness of friend

Our companion

Dire straits ahead

Knowing not a direction

Knowing not a place

Survival our last hope

Yet we were never lost

The despair need not invade our being

Each step along the road, we were not alone

The Father journeyed, too

Right there by our side

He spoke, we did not listen

Fixated upon our wants

Fixated upon societal mandates

Alone...never

The Father wraps us in love

Wraps us in His being when we are cold

When we believe ourselves to be alone

Despair a product of human desire

Lost, we become, among riches

Lost, we become, among status symbols

Both sway our thinking

Taint our vision

Muffle our hearing

This we must turn to the truth

Turn to the heart

If it is sight we must rely upon

Then it is sight of the heart we must use

It is then we will recognize the one next to us as the Father

The Father who has never, nor ever, leave our side

Sight of the heart allows us to see despite the darkness

For the Father is our light, illuminating our world with love

And so love becomes our breath, our thought, our action

All because we chose to see with the heart

Should we choose to hear with the heart we will hear the Father

Hear Him speak our name

Hear Him call us home

The interference put into place to distract

With the help of the heart, becomes white noise

He is our beacon

Our means of life whispering love into our hearts

Whispering hope into our soul

Listen, hear with the heart and the hyperactivity of the world dissipates

To reason with the heart allows us to experience truth

To become the truth, the promises of the Father

For we intimately know His face, His voice, His words

And so to reason with the heart is to beckon the Father

To relinquish the ego and call upon love

We are not the exterior but rather the interior of the soul

Thoughts become fibers interwoven in love, in trust, in wisdom

Ideas become means of action

Methods of connection

Love once dormant now rampant among action

Human desires set aside

Love experienced, rendered crucial to life itself

Operating on love we become awaken

Alive in the Father

Inspired by the Son

Moved by the Spirit

So that with each silence we gain strength in love

Strength in hope

Strength in understanding

That we begin to make our own silence

That we may see, hear and experience the Father daily

Bringing our hearts closer to the fullness of the Father

Silence no longer equated with loneliness

Silence now synonymous with wholeness

Be silent

Be whole
