Quiz

How many quizzes come across social media daily?  And now, be honest with yourself, how many have you personally taken for fun to find your spirit animal, or what certain colors say about your personality or what Harry Potter house you are in?  There are thousands of quizzes but what about one which reveals the depths of your faith?  So let’s try:

1. First thing you think about in the morning:  

         A. God

         B. Snooze alarm

         C. Schedule for the day

2.  Sitting in traffic when you are already late for work, you:

         A. Silently meditate and slow your heart rate

         B. Frantic beep your horn and yell at drivers who can hear you

         C. Blast the music and sing along

3.  While in church with a very long sermon you :

        A. Pay close attention, taking mental notes

        B.  Go through your to do list in your head

        C.  Pretend to be paying close attention yet have no idea what is being said

4.  You are having the worst day, nothing is going right and you:

       A. Take a moment to thank God for all that you have

       B. Scream

       C. Go to be early and start fresh the next day

5.  You have a very difficult decision to make that will effect the rest of your life, you:

       A. Spend time in prayer with God, listening

       B. Write a pros and con list

       C. Take over your options with a trusted confidant

6.  You pass a stranger on the street looking disheveled and lost, you:

       A. Stop and ask them if they need help

       B. Make sure to not make eye contact and walk swiftly past them

       C. Look them up and down and judge them on their looks

7.  The sun is setting, the sky is beautiful, you:

      A. Take a moment to appreciate its beauty while thanking God for this moment

      B. Completely miss the setting sun because you are too busy

      C. Look and say, “Wow, pretty” but go on your merry way

8.  It is late, long day and you are ready for sleep. You slip into the covers and:

       A. Be with God, offer the day to Him in thanks and love

       B. Turn the tv on and attempt to fall asleep

       C. You are asleep before you head even hits the pillow

Results...............

You are human. Each and every answer you can claim at any given time because we are imperfect beings. No quiz will reveal your faith only you, your actions and commitment to your person will reveal your faith. But this “quiz”,  you took time to take a quiz, thinking it would be fun or interesting or only take a moment and  it, did it does but so does a conversation with God. It can be a moment a “Hi, God”, an I love you,  thank you or it can be a long meditation. Each moment we take to interact with God is a sacred moment, a moment investing in life, a moment enveloped in love.  If you were to reread this “quiz” tomorrow I dare venture that some of the answers may be different from today and that is okay because faith is not stagnant, it is not a gift opened once and poof faith. Faith is a daily commitment, it is a daily education, daily opportunity to grow, to be changed in love, by love and act with commitment mercy and listen with understanding. If you want to reveal your faith, step back and listen to the Father call your name in the morning breeze, see the Father in the traffic jam causing lateness, feel His presence in the conversation with a perfect stranger in line at the grocery store. Only actions will reveal such faith: actions of silence, of active listening, of loving with purpose and giving without prejudice.  God gave you the Holy Spirit to guide, time has come to follow, to listen, to see...moment by moment, second by second, breath by breath...become one with the Father, reside in His gift of faith. And your results...a rewarding life of love.
