Centered

And I wonder, still I wonder, when will we learn?

We run the days

We sleep the nights, though restless as they are

The times quickly change as do the reasons for our actions

We are up, we’re down, we’re over, we’re around

But when do we become centered?

Centered in hope

Centered in faith

Centered in goodness

Centered in God?

Up, down, over and around, the back again

Life throws curves which, when taken at high speeds, cause accidents

Beaten and batter, we move yet without purpose

We move with robotic motion

No thought, no feeling, no proposed goal

We move for the sake of movement

Muscles sore, bones stiff, life the plan not prepared

Visually we see, yet with nothing in sight, darkness is what we know

Fumble, stumble, fall; our path not predestined

On the fly we choose, the heart left in the cold

When we will see?

It is not the darkness which inhibits our vision

The mind tells us what to see

The mind tells us what we see

And yet, the heart knows

Its vision is off the charts, mapping actual sight

Labeled not by language, the heart sees, clearly, the lay of the world

It sees hope, it sees faith, it sees goodness, it sees God

Do we run with the times or are the times running us?

If we know not hope

If we know not faith

If we know not goodness

If we know not God

Then the times are running us

The times are marking our path, creating our hurdles

And we are too foolish to notice

Self absorbed in such times we lose ourselves in each moment

Moments saturated in idealism, vanity and popularity

And I wonder, still I wonder, when will we learn?

The heart knows the answers to the questions we have yet to pose

The beauty of the world magnified by the heart

And still we fret

And still we ignore

And still be pretend we know not

We are up, we’re down, we’re over, we’re around

When will we become centered?

Centered around that which matters...God

He has given us the tools

Hope, faith, goodness and Himself

What is stopping us?

Now, in this moment?

Work?

Fear of rejection?

Fear of criticism?

Agendas?

Centering is a breath

Centering is a quieting

Centering is a focusing on a truth

Focusing on God

A letting go of the world without the Father

And a holding onto unconditional love

An offering by the Father

An offering of an existence independent of the tangible

Yet intertwined in its reality

The truth of humanity lies not with our motion yet rather with our stillness

Centered in truth, we know

Centered in love, we live

Centered in God, we thrive

Do you have a moment to become centered?
