One single moment

One moment of silence, what can we hear?

Birds chirping, kids playing, lawn mower running, wind blowing, water splashing.

In one moment of silence we can evaluate our surroundings, become part of that which we attempt to escape.  But in a single moment, isn’t there much more, more than that which the senses identify?  In one moment of silence... we see the birds flying, see the kids playing, see the lawn getting shorter, see the leaves swaying, see the water outside of the pool.  This sparks  thought: are the birds talking, do they need more food in the feeder?  Did the kids bring towels out and when will they get hungry?  When will we have another chance to mow the lawn before we leave for vacation?  Maybe we should get some of the trees trimmed, the branches are really swaying.  How are the levels in the pool, should I check them now or wait?  The questions, though conceived in a moment span over moments, highjacking thoughts while manipulating further moments.  What of the moment of silence was just that, silent?  What if, in this moment, we allowed the heart to speak and the soul to feel?  How much different could this moment be?  How different would our lives be?  A moment of silence...the world, in this moment, not consumed by wants; not periled by vanity; not paralyzed by fear; not tormented by irrational ideologies.  Just a moment, a freedom, an awakening.  This moment holds truth, it holds peace, solemnity, hope, love, for this moment holds the Father and we in His hands.  This moment, a single moment of silence revitalizes our persons affording us another moment.  Take this moment, feel this moment, be this moment...listen, do not speak; feel, do not anticipate; know, do not judge; reveal, do not create.  This moment carries with it a reality, our reality of a bond with the Father. One moment of silence and we can hear, we can see, we can feel, we can know the world as the Father designed, a perfect harmony of understanding married to knowledge gifted in awareness.  Take this single moment, fall silent; listen, see, feel the presence of the Father in this moment that we may begin to recognize Him in every moment.  One moment of silence and we can hear the Father calling us His love, telling us we are never alone, calling us to act with courage, offering to us the strength to withstand the chaos of the world.  In one single moment, we can be awakened to a reality humanity has masked.  Now is time to unmask such a reality, one single moment of silence...what can we hear?
