Up, Down, Twist, Turn, Free fall...
Sometimes life feels like a roller coast ride. Whether we willingly paid a ticket for the ride or if we were forced to ride, sometimes the ride is just too much, we become nauseated or frightened. Then, there are times, when we get off the roller coaster with sheer excitement and even run to the back of the line to ride again, waiting for the coveted seat in the first car. Life is about perspective. We can look at life as this roller coaster, one which carries with it our emotions...up, down, twist, turn, free fall or ex could look at it a a roller coaster with its purpose to arouse excitement. The choice is our, our life, our free will. What it comes down to this, our inner peace, our inner joy, is depended upon what we do with what we have. Sometimes we will look and see the silhouette of two faces and other times we will see the chalice; mood dependent. What if life were not mood dependent? what if we could look to the image and see both the silhouetted two faces and the chalice all with one glance? Is this even possible? Sure it is possible, we need to break free from the notion that there is only one option for thought; that somehow conformity to the mainstream normalcy equals true pleasure. To see both images of an illusion we must break these binding ties and begin to think outside the box. Your favorite color may be red and mine orange, are either one right; either one wrong? No, it is a matter of preference. Some smells appeal to me while the same smell may be repulsive to another. It is in our differences that we are the same, in our differences that we face the same roller coaster ride, for some, daily because we have not learned how to give over our fears, turn over our anxieties to God. Just because I could spend an hour in silent meditation and feel closer to God does not mean that this method of prayer is best for all people. Granted with free will, our life is filled with choices but not all of our choices need to be based on a physical response or a desire. I propose our choices are based on one thing, our purpose. If we believe our purpose to be to live and to die then our choices will be self centered made without the thought of consequence or its effects on others. Companies who knowingly pollute the earth fall into this first category for their mindset is one of greed or power, they care not what their actions do to others, to the planet for their purpose is to become rich even if it is at the expense of others. Purpose, what is our purpose? Then we have the idea that one's purpose is lead a good life, become successful and leave behind a legacy. This idea can be accomplished by two different means. First, we must look at one's definition of success. Is success measured via material goods, nice houses, great clothes, climbing up the social ladder? Is this success? Or is success love in one's heart? We have the opportunity to make a path through the overgrown weeds which stand in our way, which make passage difficult; this could be our legacy as could becoming a professional baseball player knowing that kids idolize you and your rookie card will be passed down from one generation to the next; valued at some astronomical number. Which is more important: walking a serene path, yes with hills and valleys, but placid serenity withstanding lending life to be filled with love that you may lead others down this path or a paper trail of life's accomplishments which could easily be destroyed in a fire. Life is not about what we physically obtain, it is about out spiritual connectedness to God. Once we learn to connect, we must learn how to connect for in this connection we will find our true purpose. If truth and acceptance of our purpose is what drives our motives, drives our choices, then We must first understand our purpose. We can get on the roller coaster and expect to be sick when the ride comes to a halt or we can expect to fine excitement running through our veins; the world our amusement park. But first, how do we come to grips with our purpose? God gave us this world, not as a punishment but rather as a way to identify life, true life. Our humanity gets in the way of our true purpose so we need to put aside human ideals which cloud our purpose for we quickly identify with what we can see. We must table that which separates us from a life of pure love for that is all God wants from us, to live a life of love. For some God is a mythical being, strong, omnipotent, even omnipresent but untouchable, unreachable and so they conform to the ideals of society for it is easier; people can be seen, even heard, informing others of the important things in life and how to attain happiness. This is where we struggle with listening to the mind over the heart. God's presence is real and if we stop, but for a moment, we could hear the call of the heart, the call of God. Some may hear only for a moment, others hear very second of the day. What makes some hear and others not? The acceptance of our purpose. This would is loud, there are many distractions like the roller coaster, we need to learn to listen, not with our ears but rather with our heart. Music or art may bring us close to God, to help us better understand of a god connection. Maybe it is religious services or silent contemplation which helps us to identify our innate God connect. Our differences make us the same; we are all searching, searching for a purpose, searching for our purpose but in the center of it all lies God, lies the truth of this life, the truth of the reality of God. A roller coaster ride we may be on, but as perspectives differ, so, too, do our means of obtain our heart's desires, our hearts call to oneness with God. We must look at ourselves with honest eyes not critical or condemning eyes. It is when we look at the truth of self do we discover the truth of God, dwelling within our heart. We may find God under layers of rock for we learn, at a young age, to burry that which hurts, that which causes pain, distress or embarrassment in an attempt to become like others. Once we uncover God dwelling within our very soul, our purpose is clear, to become the love of Christ here and now. Driven by love, our decisions encompass others, they encompass other worldly notions of connections, of unconditionalness. Driven by wants, our choices center on the here and now which we know is only but a moment and quickly the moment is gone. Let us explore the idea of our purpose; love, our purpose that we may lead a good life, filled with excitement, filled with God; we will be successful, we will leave behind a legacy, a legacy of love that others will seek. Tapped into God life becomes not about wants for God fulfills all of our wants with love. Life rather, is about purpose and our ability to become love here and now; our ability to bring God to others here and now. Since we are consumed by the here and now, let it be a here and now of love, of peace, of serenity and the only way to accomplish this is to be connected to God, via a life purposed in love.
