With each new day comes a new antagonist or is it the same antagonist wrapped in sheep’s clothing? The world runs its course, set in motion to free move, freely divide among itself, freely create impediments to its own steps, get in its own way, ruin its own course or identify its own beauty, become captivated by unconditional love, create a path of compassion under sympathetic feet. The course already begun, we the racers along a path forged by another and so we must choose: continue along a pristinely paved road with many a traveler or wander off that we may discover a new path, a path in which not many have taken and few will follow yet the heart calls from such a direction. And so we must choose, a path already paved or a path yet worn by heavy travel? Fear keeps us along the path which many have chosen; fear keeps the pace; fear the momentum of each step. How do we become less fearful? How do we muster the courage to leave the many for the few? Graced with the courage of the Holy Spirit, dwelling with in each of us is the ability to act with digression for the unconditional love offered to us by the Father trumps fear, trumps the anxiety of falsified human ideals, trumps all apathetic misgivings instructed by human tongue. With such confidence we break away from the overcrowded road only to find a serenity never experience along the course set forth by such a paving. The serene setting beckons the soul to explore, beckons to listen, to see, to feel that which the distractions and noise along the paved road prevented...hope, solace, joy, and love. Though this path unmarked by human signs, it is signed by the heart, signed in that we already know where to go for the Father calls our name and, finally, we hear, finally we respond. Along the course we find others yet they tell us not what to think, what to do or how to proceed, they simply offer a warm welcome, invite love with a smile and compassionately walk beside, behind or in front for without words communication is impeccable. Love the course not many have chosen yet love the course Christ set forth. Antagonized by the many, our hearing impaired as well as our sight thus we continue along a familiar path, herded like sheep to the slaughters of irreverence, egotism, and entitlement. With each new day the antagonist persistent, tempting choices with familiarity and with inclusion, that we may stay the course. Yet, with each new day God speaks, He calls out our name; He gifts us with love; offers His hand; offers Himself. With each new day we have a choice, what will today’s choice be: the antagonist or God?
