Christmas, where have you done? A tree, cards, some cookies and some stockings does not a Christmas make. Lights they still flicker but the Santas do not wave for the world, it has changed. Revisit the memories alive in the heart, but the singing of carols, silenced for the world, it has changed. Bank not on the routine of prior Christmas days, look, instead, to the opportunities presented in this change the world has become. Christmas is not simple a day, it is not of presents or cookies; Christmas is not the fighting of crowds to get the best deals nor is it the most lavish of decorations. Christmas is the Spirit of Christ, of innocents and holiness, of togetherness and awareness, of gratitude and selflessness. Christmas need not be unwrapped for Christmas dwells within and maybe, just maybe, this change is what we need to see Christmas for the truth it is...an awakening of our relationship with Christ. The innocence of a child, protected and loved, aware of His connection, confident in His awareness. This Christmas, I pray that we become aware, that we gain confidence in the truth of such Spirit, the reality of our gifted faith, our gifted connections to the Father. May we become alive in the Spirit and awakened to the reality of love. Love, unattached to material goods; unencumbered by intellectual ideas; love graciously sacrificed that we may become whole. So let us change our mindset from ‘Christmas, where have you done’ to ‘Christmas, you have found me’. Thank you, change, for you have awakened us to the truth of Christmas, to the reality of its meaning and the dwelling of its home. Christmas, this Christmas, we come alive in Christ and awakened by His love. Christmas is here, share Christmas, share love.
