Grounded in Love

The world spins, we are tossed about, rotated on an axis yet we are never the wiser for gravitational force keeps us grounded, keeps us standing our ground.  God's love is our gravitational force, it keeps us from floating off into a world infested by altruism, pride as manifested by the ego.  Grounded by love we see our actions as expressions of faith, expressions of God for now we are His hands, we are His body, we walk as we are His feet.  Every loving action performed in the name of God personifies His Word; the Word brought to life by our actions, this is a powerful truth, a truth not to be taken lightly.  The power of the Word sends people to their knees, head bow and reverence expected; but the power of love changes lives, gives meaning to our beings, heals wounds thought devastating, the power of love gives us a glimpse into the heart of God where we will find our home.  When we think of a home, we think of a building with four walls which comes with a capacity limit so it is no wonder that we attempt to 'save' love for those with whom we have entered into a relationship.  People we know not or know only in passing, we tend to be kind yet we hoard the love because we want to make sure our 'home' does not exceed capacity making it impossible for some to enter.  God's home has no limit, it is no confined by walls thus capacity is never an issue.  We need to let go of our human thought, reject the idea of confines when it comes to God and His love.  To be love is to spread the Word of God for actions always speak louder than words and actions of love are but shouts of joy, shouts of hope, shouts of the Word of God alive in a person of faith.  How do we become persons of faith while wrapped in a confusion and mind battles of logic versus opinion?  The answer, allow ourselves to be grounded in the Father's love so that we may become His Word alive in the world.  Ground by love we are anchored by hope to act with purpose the Words of the Gospel...embracing the stranger, showing understanding to the poor and compassion to the downtrodden.  The Word is love now is our chance to be this love, to heal a world hurting, to rediscover a lost world, to bring together into God's home all who accept His truth.  Though we are grounded by love many forces still attempt to break this grounding, to carry us away from God that we may wallow in the murky recesses of pain, angst and loneliness forged by human thought.  We want to think, to become lost in thought, lost in what we want?  Ok let's get lost...

We want peace, our actions must be that of peace.  Sometimes silence speaks the loudest.  Deliberate silent actions when the crowds are at their loudest requires a deep, contemplative trust of the Father...Deepen this trust, spend time listening; listen to His Word, listen as the rain hits the tin roof, listen to the sound of the leaves rustle in the Autumn breeze.  God is all around offering peace we just need to slow down and experience silence that we may truly understand peace.  

We want hope, hopeful action must be our priority.  Believe the Words of God, act upon this belief.  Life is not fair, there is nothing we can do to make it fair thus w must act with hope and understand that with every situation resides God and His offering of love.  

We want riches, we must discover the truth of riches.  Material wealth is but a shallow trophy of our existence yet spiritual richness brings forth priceless relationships, relationships which uncover the truths of our beings, the truths of our connectedness both to the Father and to others.  These connections make us rich, make us whole for saturated with love the world no longer lonely, not longer desolate; rather the world becomes a vast land of opportunity, beauty and freshness all stemming from the richness of love.

We want to belong, acceptance of self is the first step.  God offers His love, unconditionally yet human stipulations are placed upon our expectations of this unconditional love.  We feel when we are actions are less then expected we punish ourselves by saying we are not deserving of God's love; God put no contingencies upon His love, why do we?  We need to accept this unconditional love for what it is, conditionless, and move forth in love, bringing love to all those we encounter throughout our travels.  

We want to be understood, then we must be silence and compassionate, putting ourselves in the shoes of others lest we not condemn them.  To be understood is to understand, to be aware of the plight of others and fear not walking beside the stranger.  

We want goodness to befall our person, then we must be the goodness for others, we must act with compassion, act with love, act in faith and be the face of a God on earth.  Genuine need be our actions, genuine need be our thought, genuine need be our persona and attention to God's Word.  

There is so much we want and yet every want falls back on love, love of self, love of others, love of God.  To fulfill each and every want we must be grounded in love, grounded by God.  The only way to be truly grounded in love is to surrender; surrender to the need to act the thoughts of the mind, surrender to promise of unconditional love and disregard the intense need for perfection.  We must strip ourselves of the adornments of humanity that we may discover the beauty of our spirituality as present on the love of the Father, the model of the Son and the grace and peace of the Spirit.  Be grounded, grounded in love, let the peace of God enable the mind to be silenced and the heart to hear His call, feel His love and act with such gracious love that the world see, again, the face of the Father.
