A widespread problem our society faces is lack of power. We never seem to have our phones, iPads or computers at full power; whether entering a coffee shop, a friend's house or a place of business, it would be safe to wager that someone in one of these venues is charging something. It seems as though we are constantly racing to find a power source as our constant checking of Facebook, Instagram or snap chat quickly depletes our battery. We have become accustom to pushing the limits of said power hoping to make it through the day without the low power mode notification; yet, inevitably it happens. We spend thousands of dollars on new products claiming to maintain a longer battery life; mophies, juice packs and every imaginable adaptor resides in cars, purses and homes. What if the unimaginable effort we put into maintaining batty life, we put into maintaining our power source of life, our connection with the Father? We, like our electronics, walk around only patricianly charged; some days it is 70%, other days it is 50% and still sometimes our low power warning comes on swooping us into a power save mode. What if we were at 100%? What if we were fully charged and faced our day fully charged, what a difference that day would make, wouldn't it? What drains our life battery? Constant struggles to maintain time constraints, to adhere to the overbooked schedules, to rake in the big bucks, these are life draining, as are pressures to succeed as measured by others, apathy, cynicism and opinionated reasoning. The level at which each drain our life battery is proportional to its function as well as our attention to our power source. God is our source of power, our source of love, our source of life; if we maintain a connection with God throughout our day then never should we dip below 90%. Yet we let life take charge, mandating our arrival at certain times, certain functions without full effort of love, full effort of the heart; it is a though we go through the motions with the express interest of the heart, our source of power. Listening to the chatter of the world, too, quickly deletes our power bars as the harsh criticism of others and cynicism of life, itself, weighs heavy upon the heart, kinking the chord to is power. We claim that running on half power is okay, that we are fully functioning at 50% yet the heart knows differently, the heart feels differently. Running at 50% allows doubt, anxiety and fears to sneak in further depleting power; further intensifying our need for a connection. Running on such a low battery we find we need to conserve energy and the first place we turn is to the mind, we let the mind take over that we may protect the heart. The heart is in need of no protection, the heart is our source of protection for it is our source of power, our source of love, our source of God. Remaining fully charged seems outlandish yet it is quite feasible as we have all the adapters, the mophies, the juice packs, the USB chords we need to stay connected to our power source of life. Courage, wisdom and piety are our adaptors, faith our mophie, hope and love our juice packs, and clarity, understanding and knowledge are our USB chords...we are always connected. Enlightened by this realization, we need no longer run on low power mode, we need no longer run on 50% power for our life source maintains a constant condition to our soul! It is we who need to untie the kink thus allowing the power to flow, allowing the love to flow and reset our battery. Walking around at half power may be okay in our electronical age but it is detrimental to our spiritual life. Sourced by love we move with understanding and around in compassion; the eyes of God are discerned in the stranger passing on the street as well as the passages spoken on Sunday. We need no eyes to see nor ears to hear only a heart to feel, to know the power surge of God's expression of love. To walk around fully charged we need only accept His love and live as was His intention, in love, with love. Faith will boost our power when it starts to drain for faith our ultimate source of knowledge, of truth; faith our understanding of the Father as it pertains to our person, not just humanity. Our power comes from a connection offered in love, offered to us all. Maintenance of such a connection requires a commitment to the heart, a commitment to God. What a difference the day would be if fully powered! The connection is there, the power source charged, plug in and be full; let not this world drain your power, rather, let your power charge the world.
