Work in Progress

In the eyes of God, we are a masterpiece; yet in the eyes of humanity, we are a work in progress.  How can we be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, is this a possibility?  We are His masterpiece; conceived in love, blessed with hope, gifts with faith, we are God's greatest creation.  In His image we were made to love, made to show compassion, made to invite in the stranger and make for them a home.  In His likeness we offer peace where there is turmoil, we hold out our arms that we may comfort where there is hurt, we see in the darkest of nights and hear durning the loudest of thunders.  A masterpiece, sculpted in the image a perfect though we, ourselves, are imperfect hence a work in progress.  While we are made in His image and likeness, flawed by our humanity we search when we are already found, we speak when we ought to listen, we ignore when our attention is summoned.  In our race to know we have forgotten the truths of the heart, the words spoken upon our witness to Christ.  The infectious knowledge of the brain becomes counterproductive as it overshadows the knowledge of the heart.  While the message of the heart lies undiscerned, the logical brain rattles of sequences, consequences and tactical motives to deploy concrete, discredited moves.  It seems that with humanity comes mistakes, misgivings and misfortune yet with humanity also comes beauty, forgiveness and opportunities.  Shadowed by the pretenses of the mind we become lost in battles of logic, accolades of superiority as preset by society and apathetic procrastination thus disconnecting the heart and soul.  The soul, the masterpiece of God, the heart, our connection to pure love and intrinsic beauty; both lost in the shuffle of our worlds pursuit of happiness resting upon conformity.  The pursuit of perfection, driven by isolate happiness, idolized by doctrines of righteousness creates not a masterful human.  Birthed as masterpieces of God we are to seek His love, seek Him in every aspect of life for our true connection is to pure love, is to God hence our seeking is not difficult.  We can liken such a search to that of a mother playing peek a boo with her infant child, all she does is cover her eyes; all we need do is open our hearts to discover happiness quickly eclipsed by joy and inscriptions of the heart more meaningful than any doctrine transcribed by man.  Discernment of life comes with purpose of the Spirit, gifted as resilience to a demoralized society corrupted  by our own allegiance the crafty, misleading, self proclaimed truth...logic.  Who we claim as our person can quickly be discredited by who we are as God's masterpiece.  Speak to be heard, the sign of education; speak to understand, the sign of introspection.  Mistakes are undeniable for perfection is reserved for the Father.  We must learn that mistakes need not be equated with negligence, pride and apathy; should we choose to live love, act with faith and discern with hope then our actions are progressive as we move forth with the Father's and in His love.  Should pride become our beacon, this is when our lives become stagnant, when we trudge through the marsh yet cover no ground for each step is exhausting, each step emasculates the physical while draining our emotions.  Soon we can be found in the middle of a swamp searching for a logical means of escape, to which there is none.  We cannot deny our worthiness in Christ for it is in His image we work for justice and prescribe mercy; in His likeness we gather the strangers and feast with the lowly.  Worthy we are to claim to be His masterpiece yet we must always strive to live as a masterpiece with actions of faith, convictions of hope and gatherings of love.  In our state of human affairs perfection an unachievable goal; therefore let us strive live as God's masterpiece, carefully carved in faith, lacquered in hope and presented in love.  A work in process with understanding of God's mastery is a channeling of truth no longer filtered by the ego, only heard via the heart.  God is clear in His love, let us be clear in our purpose...to love with an everlasting, conditionless love.  Only a masterpiece who is a work in progress can accomplish can live with such purpose.  Look into the eyes, deep into the eyes which bears the soul; a masterpiece stares back yet concedes working hands.
