Advent challenge:
Be still and listen but for a moment, label thoughts thinking and just listen, let God’s words truly be heard. This is easier said than done, especially in the wake of 2020. But here is the challenge, each time the Christmas lights are turned on, pause and invite God into your heart. Each time you pass the Christmas stocking put a little note, a posted if you want, of how great the person is, how much you love them or how proud you are of them so that when you open stocking stuffers on Christmas morning, there is much more than material items. Look at the tree, each day find a different ornament and reminisce about where it came from, when it came from and why. When baking cookies, bake an extra dozen and give them to a friend, a coworker or a neighbor. While listening to Christmas songs think about the words and how the birth of a tiny, humble child impacts your life on a daily basis. Each night, before closing your eyes, be silent, be still, listen and be humbled by the Father’s love. This Advent, let us count our blessings, grow closer to the Father and our families that we may become the love the Father so readily offers; love we need too readily accept that we may become an offering of love. Challenge proposed, will it be accepted?
