Choose Wisely

In this moment

In the next moment

We have a choice

We can choose defeat:

glorified by anger,

restricted by vanity

Perpetrated by self indulgence

Or we can choose victory:

Inspired by unconditional love,

Driven by uncompromised hope,

Propelled by innate faith.

That of which we see, is it true, is it real?

That of which we hear, does it echo the soul?

That of which we feel, does it bring us to our knees with gratitude or with anger?

That of which we know, was it gained or spoken; wisdom or hypothesis?

That of which we speak, is it rationed by proposal or governed by gifted knowledge?

That of which we do, these actions, are the reminiscent of Christ, Pilate or Nebuchadnezzar?

Each answer within the realm of our influence

Each answer baited by extenuating norms, prodded by the depravity of words pressing for resistance of the heart

Gratitude

Commitment

Awareness

Openness

Humility

These, too, influence our understanding; influence our moment and the next

Of what are we thankful: our hope, our life, our relationships or our material goods?

To what do we commit: God, love, holiness, faith or some derivative of persuasion?

Of what are we aware: God’s omnipresence, His never ending love, His constant ability to envelop our soul and make us feel whole or the shouts for conformity?

To what are we open: God’s commitment to us, to faith being our purpose, to love restoring that which was lost in a previous fight or to the skewed versions of fictitious realities painted as truth?

In our moments are we humble enough to see that perfection is a farce, that control is an allusion, that answers are not printed in text rather indelibly imprinted in both the heart and soul or is our humility linked a preposterous entitlement rendered by pride?

In this moment

In the next moment

We have a choice

What will we choose to see, to hear, to feel, to know, to speak, to act?

Can we set aside indications of humanity?

Can we embrace this moment of love?

Will gratitude be our next moment?

We have a choice

We must choose wisely...
