Mossy Rock
Today, tomorrow, these are existences of what is yet to be, what is yet to come. Now, this moment is what we are given; now, this moment we have the opportunity to accept, to feel the love offering of God and deny the power of hate intensely festering in our world riddled with apathy and indifference. Now, this moment, it must be seized for in this moment there there is love, there is God, and yet there are questions. Fear not these questions for in each question we discover answers; fear only when all question cease this the tell tale sign of the invasion of the mind pretending to own its path though it walks only among the thorns. Questions lead us closer to love, closer to God for in our questioning God is revealed in each flower of the field; in each cloud dancing among the contrasting blue sky; in each giggle of a tiny infant. Our mind would have us believe that to question is to be weak. Encouraged by the ego, the mind incorrectly interperpates an array of situations among which includes the misinterpretation of the actions of others as well as God's integral bond with His creation thus leading to a disconnect. The fallacies of the mind hind our progression of truth, of acceptance and of integration of God within our being. Should we fully understand all the happening of this world, should we fully comprehend the mystery of God the we would have achieved perfection; but, since perfection exists only in God, this possibility is an impossibility. Therefore, we must recognize false prophets for what and who they are; individuals hiding behind religious decrees attempting the impossible thus fearing the inevitable...change. To remain as we were is to be like that of a rock at the bottom of a lake. With no waves, the rock remains, the warm sun beats upon this rock and eventually slimy moss grows covers the surface. Rock upon rock moss grows until the entire floor of the lake has green hue and a slimy feel when entered. Many will stay away from the lake for the feeling of slime between their toes is off putting and the greenish hues should be saved for the grass not the water. So the lake sits, unused, desolate, the water, itself, becomes stagnant and begins to have a odor. The tiny lake, one filled with playful visitors sits abandoned, basking in the sun growing more and more cloudy and green with a stronger stench. To live in the heart is to accept our shortcomings, to accept our imperfections and to humbly ask for assistance. We may have been down the same road three, four, five times, so what? If we need help, if we become lost, there is no shame in asking for assistance because God will never say no. Intentionally traveling the same road and accidentally winding up on the same road does, indeed, differ. Deliberately traveling a deserted road with no provisions prepared to say, "Oh, God will provide; God will get me out of the situation like He did before.", this is irresponsible. We are in charge of our beings, granted the freedom to choose, we have the duty to prepare for our trip, to fashion ourselves with faith and understand that with faith comes responsibility. Therefore, the knowledge that with every action there is a reaction, the heart gently reminds us that negotiations and alliances with the mind serve only as hinderances to our being. The minds' strides towards perfection lead to darkness, lead to misconceptions, lead to misinterpretations, lead to apathy, all which lead to disconnection from God and from love. This is the chosen path of complacency, the chosen path of discontent and indifference; the path chosen in spite of the heart, chosen by the ego with expectations of victories and unwavering mind sets. Choose not to change, choose not to question and faith it grows not. Into our lives many people will come, some will stay others will choose to leave and still others pass as their bodies give way to life; each person serves a purpose, from each person we can learn, from each person we can grow in faith; that is should we choose. Choices bombard use daily, right now we can choose to stop reading and go on with our day. Now, this moment, there is a choice...maybe this choice will lead us down a path we have already taken, a path by which we found ourselves frightened or alone. This path comes with choices, ask for assistance, hide in fear, run with expectations of discovering a exit, oh the choices, the list continues. What we must understand is that even if we find ourselves on a path once traveled, we must not fear assistance, we must not fear the question of, "How did I wind up here again?" Instead of the stagnant lake, we are now the ever shifting tide, moving about, crashing upon the shores, drifting back to sea; we change, we grow, we move, we never become stagnant for faith our movement, faith our foundation which invites the questions humbly asked in hopes of further growth which lead to deeper connections with the Father. Faith asks not for perfection faith asks for trust, trust in the promises of the Father; trust in the healing power of His love; trust in His ability to love our every imperfection and accept our shortcomings. Faith will carry us when our wings have been clipped by delusions of the mind; it will push us when we see the truth of what lies within us yet fear what lies before us. Faith is our anchor so that when the turbulent seas begin to swallow us whole, the anchor is dropped steadying our course but for a moment to regain our bearings and proceed with understanding. To know with the mind is to calculate risk as it pertains to the ego yet to know with the heart is to live life with the wisdom of God. Though the tide is ever changing, it still remains consistent with its burgeoning of waves which eventually crashing upon shore and trickle back to sea. Our need to remain stagnant stems only from the mind for it fears what might become in the now, in this moment. Now, this moment, faith burgeons as we accept our imperfections and trust in the promises of God, trust in His love. Now, this moment, we flow as freely as the tide and fear not its change in direction for the current is the current of faith and God as the wind stream. Now, this moment, let us accept our persons guided by the heart and vested in faith that we find our paths to be inviting and freeing not condemning and confining. May the excitement of faith awaken our hearts to an understanding of love provided by God that we may discover our world of possibilities coupled with steadfast love in a purposeful connection with Christ; no moss will grow upon our rock for founded in faith our rock requires movement and settles only in God.
