The Basket
So you say you want a miracle, you want to witness God in action...you want a miracle? Be the miracle, be God on this earth. Long ago, the backstory of humankind, that which was wanted was sought after, worked for, fought for; there were no feelings of entitlement or expectations of success without work. Privilege has replaced work as the robe of entitlement infiltrates the globe; cries of apathy are harmonized with condescending sneers which play on most radios. Calloused hands disappeared into the night and a handshake holds weight but for a moment, until a better deal comes along. Trapped by our allegiance to man created ideals, we search, we scream for miracles as our mind would have us delineate from our hearts pushing us to require witnessed faith rather than experienced faith. Miracles are needed in our world, of this there is not doubt; however, we are equipped to be these miracles for faith bestowed upon us and gifts of love, hope, mercy, fortitude, wisdom, compassion and empathy enable us to be witnesses of experienced faith and not bystanders of contrived opinion. People are hungry, they need to be fed, fed with the love and peace of God. When the crowds gathered and Jesus spoke, they listened so intently that they became the miracle of faith needed in the moment for they hungered and were fed. Faith is our miracle, faith is our hope in a hopeless world. So you need a miracle, what have you done to become this miracle? Our trust must lie in the Father for without Him, we are but a physical body with a limited existence tormented by unplausible ideologies contrived by a flawed misconception of reality. We must embrace our true reality, God. The reality of our existence depends not upon the cars we drive or our level of institutional education mastered; rather, the reality of our existence depends upon our commitment to deepening our faith, to becoming actions of faith, life learners dependent upon God's promise of love. Commitments to faith require action, entitlement set aside, calloused hands resurface as faith is brought to life in each action, each attempt of love, each offering of self. To give of one's self, to share one's talents is to become actions of faith, the embodiment of Christ, a miracle in this world. People hunger, their desire to be fed is an unimaginable dream for the terrors of the night, derived from the antics of the mind, show reels of emaciated zombies starving for the one thing the mind can not offer...God. Let us feed the people, we stand together as Christians, listening to the Word of God yet obedience to the mind prevents the message from reaching depths necessary to for faith to take action. Had we been present while Jesus walked the earth and spoke to grandiose crowds, would we have placed in the basket our scraps of food that others may become full? The basket is being passed, what will you place inside? Will you be the miracle the world so desperately needs or will you remain silent, muzzled by the mind, manipulated by its ill conceived notions of reality? So you want a miracle, you want to witness God in action? Look into a mirror, your pure heart reflects back...trust in God, trust in His promise, you are His miracle...act like a miracle. Experience faith saturated in love, deepened by action. The basket has been passed, people are hungry for God, will you commit to satisfying their hunger or will you just pass the basket, empty?
