The Boat

A boat makes its way ashore whereby it casts its anchor that it may not drift off to sea in the dark of night.  God is our anchor that we, too, may not drift off in the dark of night as the mind causes darkness when it see fit.  Anchored by faith, our boat may get tossed about in the wake yet fear of drifting need not be of concern.  God's promise to love, to protect, to guide, this promise is embedded in our hearts, the message is clear, it is true, it is celebrated in actions of love.  Though a promise, our acceptance of such a promise enters us into a covenant with God...his a reciprocating promise we make:

My heart is Yours, oh Loving Father
You have molded me in Your image
In Your likeness I take action to love all those I meet
I accept my shortcomings
And understand perfection lies only in You
But I will do my best in every action
I will perform to my best ability
And when I fall, I will get up a try again
Your love will be my guide
With eyes of wisdom I shall walk each path aware of Your presence
I accept Your love as You offer, unconditionally
I will put no stipulations on Your offering
I will place no condemnation upon my true efforts
You are my love and I know now, I am Yours
Anchor me, Oh Lord
Anchor me that I may explore without trepidation
That I may live without fear that I will lose my way
You are my way
You are my truth
Life I have, love I have all because of You
My promise, Dear Lord, I make with my whole being
I promise to remain true to my heart for I know these are Your words
I will not live in my mind
Its wickedness I will thwart by the powers of faith
In You I trust
While the ways of the world provoke madness
I will remain confident in my actions for Your are my model
You have shown me how to love
You have shown me how to live
My actions are but a reflection of a lesson
A lesson taught so many years ago
A lesson which lives in my heart
Your words, oh Lord, fuel my action and temper my hast
With each sunrise my soul rejoices in the warmth of Your love
Every toss of the leaves I smile for the wind kisses my cheeks and I feel Your presence
You are never away from me
I shall never wander from You
You are my rock
You are my anchor
With this truth, I fear not my path
When the mind begins to torment, as it will
I will turn to my heart
I will turn to You and ask for help
You know before I ask what I need
Our connection know no barriers
I will be open to this bond and work to keep it strong
Compassion my promise
My purpose clear:
I shall better the world with Your love, with Your truths
With You as my anchor, I will sail the seas
No ocean will be left unventured
When I tire
When battling the seas becomes to arduous
I will drop my anchor and regroup
Your love will strengthen my body and I will regain my drive
Hope, marked by the anchor, You are my hope
Your truths make me whole, make me seek You in every aspect of my days
My promise, oh Lord
Is to be the best me I can be
Acceptance will not be cursed with doubt
And love never riddled with confusion
My heart forever sings of Your promise
Sings of Your love
It sings because I am Your love
As Your love I promise to be love
I promise to be a light in the darkness for those who fear the dark
My actions will speak of Your love for those who have lost their hearing
Those who struggle to continue along the path, I will carry
You have carried me, now it is my turn
You are my anchor
Together we will set sail
I will always keep my face toward the Son
A beacon of truth
A beacon of love
We set sail together and honor this covenant of love.

Off we go into the distant horizon we disappear.  The sky a beautiful pink and purple; the sky resonates with the joy of our adventure.  The boat sets sail, through the canal we emerge...our covenant sealed by our travel.
